LÓN
- Thu 19:20 · City Hall
LÓN is an Icelandic folk/Americana trio formed during the 2020 lockdown, when three long-time friends and collaborators came together to create music in an informal, creative setting. What began as spontaneous sessions in a cabin by Lake Þingvallavatn quickly evolved into a fully realized musical project. The band consists of vocalist Valdimar Guðmundsson (best known as the frontman of the acclaimed Icelandic band Valdimar), alongside guitarists Ásgeir Aðalsteinsson and Ómar Guðjónsson. Together, they explore their shared roots in folk music. Their music blends folk intimacy with subtle jazz and rock influences, creating a reflective and emotionally resonant soundscape. LÓN’s work often centers on themes of aging, family, and personal growth. Their debut material, including the single “My Father” and the album Thankfully Distracted, captures the bittersweet transition into adulthood—balancing acceptance and nostalgia.
