SAKARIS is the musical project of Faroese songwriter, producer and performer Sakaris Emil Joensen. Known for blending imaginative synth-pop, indie goofiness and earnest songwriting, he has become a highly regarded name on the Faroese and Nordic music scene over the past decade. Since the release of his debut ablum I Have Beautiful Eyes in 2012, SAKARIS has developed a distinctive sound that combines catchy melodies with humorous and slightly self-deprecating lyrics dealing with themes such as millennial anxiety, personal/financial woes of the artisté, the domestic dream and the state-of-the-world in general. Drawing inspiration from 80s pop, videogame music and new-wave weirdness, his songs balance upbeat production with a pessimistic and often humorously self-deprecating perspective.
